provincial nominee program (PNP)

Through the provincial nomination program you can enter Canada with an express entry path by applying directly to provinces which are a good fit for your industry and qualifications and that are looking for workers. Each province sets its own requirements for the jobs that they are trying to fill, so requirements will vary by province. While some provinces will consider applicants who have also applied to other provinces some will not and will remove those applications from their consideration, so it is necessary to research your own needs and the requirements of the province you feel is the best fit for you.

Some of the target markets for these programs include international students, business people, skilled workers, and semi-skilled workers. While some provinces list requirement similar to that of the federal programs not all do, and there are a varied number of streams available in each province, with some having more opportunities and others have more limited availability. When chosen for this program the province will assess and consider all application received, then they are each rated based on the needs of the province, and those who rank highest will be invited to apply for the express entry program. Once express entry has been approved it is necessary to apply for a permanent residency visa. Regardless of which province, a police check must be completed to ensure that you have no criminal record that makes you inadmissible to Canada, and a medica exam must be completed.

To complete your applications through paper copy apply directly to the province with all necessary documentation, and once the province invites you to apply for entry complete an express entry profile and apply there, including your invitation for the provincial nominee program. To complete application online create an express entry profile that will show the provinces and territories that you are interested in, allowing them to view your profile. When you receive a notification of interest contact the province directly, or accept their invitation online to their own express entry system.

To qualify for this program you must first qualify for the Federal Express Entry program, and you must fit into one of their entre streams. These include the international student program, Federal Skilled Workers, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience class. Through this process you must pass through one of the streams of entry for the province that is nominating you, and then pass through an express entry stream for the federal government.

Though express entry is a faster way to achieve immigration to Canada it is a detailed and lengthy process. To make your application as effective as possible ensure you meet all requirements for your stream of entry, if you are using the PNP ensure that you meet all requirement for both the province and the federal government, and ensure all documents and paperwork are up to date before filling. Ensuring all documentation is present is one of the top ways to ensure that your application can be processed quickly and efficiently as each request for more information or a new document extends the time it takes to process. With so many wonderful places to live and work and a welcoming environment Canada is a country that values family and welcomes people of all walks of life.

To ensure you meet both sets of requirements it can be easiest to print a copy of the requirements for the province to which you have applied and then a copy of the express entry stream that you qualify under for the federal program, and ensure that all combined requirements are met. This will help your application to be processed quicky and efficiently. Although the provincial requirements can change as they adapt to the changing economy and their needs, the current streams of entry by province include:
