BC PNP Skills Immigration (S.I.)

There are five categories under Skills Immigration (SI), one must have to fulfill any of the below categories requirements:

  • Skills Immigration -Skilled Worker: This category mainly targets immigrants who want to work and live in BC with intention of becoming Canada’s permanent residents. This category includes skilled workers such as professionals and trade workers.
  • Skills Immigration -Healthcare Professionals – Includes physicians, registered nurses, and other aided healthcare professionals employed with health authorities at the province.
  • Skills Immigration – International Graduate– Degree or Diploma holder from Canada’s university or college with a valid job offer.
  • Skills Immigration – International Post-Graduate-Master degree or Doctoral degree holder in areas of natural, applied, or health science specifically from BC University. Under this category, the job offer is not a mandate.
  • Skills Immigration -Entry Level and Semi-Skilled (including employment in the Northeast Development Region of BC) : This category includes workers in the fields of hospitality/tourism, food processing, long-haul trucking or workers at entry-level and semi-skilled workers residing Northeast Development Region of BC.

The Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)

BCPNP introduced a new immigration system called Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) in the year 2016, under SIRS candidate needs to have a valid job offer from an employer in BC. There are few categories under BCPNP that required SIRS registration.

  • EE BC Skilled worker
  • EE BC International Graduate
  • SI Skilled worker
  • SI International Graduate
  • SI Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Entrepreneur Immigration

Steps to registration

To process the application, one needs to apply through the BCPNP portal wherein details related to employment, education, language proficiency etc were assessed as per minimum requirements and the process follows

 

  • Creating an online profile at BCPNP online
  • Providing details-wise information, one must ensure that the information must be correct and accurate. Incomplete information or wrong details can lead to refusal of the application
  • Submitting the application after the thorough check

What is SIRS

SIRS is an online point-based system that helps BC to assess the candidate as per their labour market needs. SIRS is processed by BCPNP and its process is the same as EE. A Candidate registered under SIRS can avail points up to 200 as per the below mention breakup.

Once candidates are registered under SIRS, they enter the pool and based on the draw conducted by the BCPNP and gets Invitation to Apply (ITA) under different categories as per cut-off threshold. Once ITA is received, the candidate needs to submit all required documents within 30 days. After successfully applying for ITA, the candidate who receives provincial nominations from BCPNP under SIRS category has to apply under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent resident status within six months of receiving the provincial nomination.
